Church Indoor Playgrounds and Kids Ministry Spaces for Greater Houston

In Greater Houston, an indoor playground is not a luxury. With long, humid summers, sudden storms and hurricane-season rain, families look for clean, air-conditioned places where kids can run, and churches that offer one become part of the weekly routine. Cool Stuff Studios designs, fabricates and installs custom church indoor playgrounds, toddler soft play and immersive children's ministry environments for congregations from Katy and Cypress to The Woodlands, Kingwood, Sugar Land and Pearland.

We are a Texas design-build team with 21 years of experience and more than 600 projects completed. We are based in Dallas and come to your Houston-area campus in person for every site visit and installation, and one team stays responsible from first concept to final walkthrough. The Houston Kids Ministry Opportunity

Houston is one of the largest church markets in the country, home to some of the nation's largest congregations and to fast-growing suburbs along the Grand Parkway. Fulshear was among the fastest-growing cities in the U.S. in the latest Census estimates, and Katy, Cypress, Richmond and Spring continue to add young families. Many large Houston churches now run multiple campuses across Harris, Fort Bend and Montgomery counties, which raises a practical question: how do you give every campus a kids experience that feels equally safe and welcoming?

A well-planned indoor playground answers part of that. On Sunday it keeps kids engaged before and after services. During the week, several Houston churches already open free indoor play hours to the community, giving parents of toddlers and preschoolers a reason to walk through the doors long before they visit a worship service.

Kids Space Elements We Design and Build

Each project starts from your floor plan and ministry goals. Common components include:

Multi-Level Indoor Play Structures

Commercial indoor play structures with climbing nets, slides, tunnels, bridges and lookout points, sized to your ceiling height and expected number of kids. We also plan seating and sight lines for parents and volunteers.

Toddler Soft Play and Preschool Areas

Soft play for crawlers, toddlers and preschoolers, with low platforms, padded shapes and gentle slides, kept separate from bigger kids for safety and calmer play.

Kids Ministry Check-In and Lobby Theming

A themed check-in desk, dimensional logo and clear signage help new families find their way through a busy Sunday lobby and set the tone before kids reach their classrooms.

Classroom, Hallway and Large-Group Room Theming

Murals, sculpted scenery, props and ceiling features can extend one story across preschool rooms, elementary classrooms and a kids worship room, so the whole wing feels connected.

Multi-Campus Consistency

For churches with several Houston-area campuses, we can develop one theme and standard set of features, then adapt it to each building's size and layout.

Built for Heavy Use and Safe Play

Church play areas see a lot of traffic, especially when they are open to the community during the week.

  • Soft contained play standard. Soft contained play equipment is covered by ASTM F1918, which addresses materials, structural integrity, entry and exit, maintenance and fire safety. We design play features with that standard in mind.
  • Code and fire marshal review. Houston-area jurisdictions enforce building and fire codes through their own officials. We plan materials and egress with that review in mind and coordinate with your architect or contractor.
  • Humidity-ready, cleanable materials. Sealed, wipeable, commercial-grade finishes make cleaning easier between Sunday services and weekday play hours.
  • Accessible routes. Entries and pathways are planned so children and caregivers with different abilities can use the space.

How a Houston Project Works With a Dallas-Based Team

  • 1. Discovery call. We talk through your goals, ages served, room sizes, timeline and budget range, and review your floor plans or photos.
  • 2. Site visit. We travel to your campus to measure and review site conditions.
  • 3. Theme and 3D design. You see the concept and layout in 3D before fabrication, which helps when presenting to elders, a building committee or a capital campaign team.
  • 4. Fabrication. Play features, theming and signage are built to the approved design and delivered to your site.
  • 5. Installation. We come back to install on a schedule built around your services and events, then walk the finished space with your staff.

We work directly with church staff or as part of a larger building team with your architect and general contractor.

Frequently Asked Questions

You are based in Dallas. Can you really serve Houston churches?

Yes. Design and 3D modeling happen in our studio, and we travel to Houston in person for site visits and installation. Travel is planned into your schedule and proposal from the start, so there are no surprises.

What does a church indoor playground cost?

It depends on the size and number of levels, the amount of custom theming, your ceiling height, site conditions and finishes. After a consultation we give you a budget range for your space. Our free planning guide explains the biggest budget drivers.

Can we open the playground to the community during the week?

Many churches do. If that is your plan, tell us early so we can account for higher traffic, sight lines for supervising adults and durable, cleanable finishes.

Can you match a theme our church already uses?

Yes. We can build around an existing kids ministry brand, curriculum theme or campus look, or create a new concept.

Will installation interrupt our Sunday services?

We schedule installation around your services and major events and agree on work windows with your staff before we arrive.
