Church Indoor Playgrounds in Dallas–Fort Worth, Designed and Built by a Local Team
Across Dallas–Fort Worth, the kids wing has become one of the first places a visiting family forms an opinion about a church. Parents in Frisco, Plano, Southlake and Rockwall have toured a lot of children's spaces, and they notice the difference between a room with a few toys and a purpose-built indoor playground with a welcoming check-in. Cool Stuff Studios is a Dallas-based design-build team that plans, fabricates and installs custom church indoor playgrounds and themed children's ministry environments for congregations throughout North Texas.
For 21 years we have built themed environments and commercial indoor play spaces, with more than 600 projects completed. We handle the whole job turnkey, so your staff and volunteers are not stuck coordinating a designer, a play equipment vendor, a muralist and an installer.
Why DFW Churches Are Investing in Indoor Play
North Texas keeps adding young families. The fastest growth in recent Census estimates has been in outer-ring suburbs such as Celina, Prosper, Princeton, Anna, Melissa and Forney, along with large, established family markets like McKinney, Frisco and Fort Worth. Many of those families are looking for a church home, and they are judging the kids ministry experience as much as the worship service.
An indoor playground also gives your building a weekday purpose. Several DFW churches open their indoor play areas to the community during the week, turning a Sunday-only room into a place neighbors visit on a hot July afternoon.
What We Build for North Texas Churches
Every project is custom, sized to your room, ceiling height, budget and the ages you serve. Most DFW church projects combine several of these elements.
Custom Indoor Play Structures and Soft Play
We design commercial-grade, multi-level play structures with climbing features, slides, crawl tubes and lookouts, plus soft play zones for younger kids. Structures can be compact enough for a renovated classroom or large enough to anchor a new children's building.
Toddler Zones and Age-Separated Play
Toddlers and elementary kids play at different speeds. We plan a separate toddler zone with low, soft play features and clear sight lines, so preschoolers are protected and volunteers can supervise both groups easily.
Themed Check-In and Welcome Areas
Check-in is where a first-time family decides whether your kids ministry feels safe and organized. We build themed check-in desks, dimensional signage and kiosk surrounds, plus wayfinding for large multi-building campuses.
Immersive Theming, Murals and 3D Sculpture
From adventure and nature themes to city, space or story-driven concepts, we create murals, sculpted features and props that carry your ministry's message through hallways, classrooms and large-group rooms.
Safety, Durability and Code Considerations
A church playground serves hundreds of kids every week, so we plan for safety and heavy use from the first sketch.
- ASTM F1918. Soft contained play equipment is covered by ASTM F1918, the safety performance specification for soft contained play equipment, which addresses materials, structural integrity, access and exit, maintenance and fire safety.
- Fire and building codes. Your local building official and fire marshal may require fire-retardant materials and specific egress. We plan materials and layouts with that review in mind and coordinate with your architect or contractor.
- Accessibility. We design routes, entries and play features so children and caregivers of different abilities can use the space, and we coordinate with your design team on applicable accessibility requirements.
- Cleanable, durable finishes. We favor sealed, wipeable surfaces and commercial-grade materials that hold up to busy Sundays and weekday community hours.
Our Design-Build Process for DFW Churches
Being based in Dallas means site visits, progress check-ins and installation are a short drive away for most churches in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Tarrant and Rockwall counties.
- 1. Free consultation. We learn your vision, the ages you serve, your room dimensions, timeline and budget range.
- 2. Concept and 3D design. We develop a theme and layout, then show it in 3D so your leadership team, building committee or capital campaign team can see it before anything is built.
- 3. Fabrication. Play features, theming, sculpture and signage are built to the approved design.
- 4. Installation. Our team installs and coordinates the schedule around your services and events.
- 5. Walkthrough. We review the finished space and its care with your staff.
We can work directly with your church or alongside your architect and general contractor on a larger building program.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a church indoor playground cost in DFW?
Cost depends on the size of the play structure, the amount of theming, ceiling height, site conditions and finishes. A soft play corner in an existing classroom and a full multi-level playground in a new children's wing are very different projects. After a free consultation we provide a budget range for your space. Our free planning guide also explains the main budget drivers.
How long does a project take?
Timelines depend on scope, design approvals and whether the project is part of a larger construction schedule. We map out design, fabrication and installation dates at the start and plan installation around your services.
Do you include a toddler area?
Most churches want one, and we usually recommend it. A separate toddler zone keeps younger children safer and makes supervision simpler.
Can you work in an existing building, or only build playgrounds?
Many projects are renovations of classrooms, foyers or underused rooms, and many go beyond play: themed check-in, hallways, classrooms, large-group rooms, signage and sculpture.
